National Museum Bangkok Reviews

This museum has some beautiful collections, especially of religious relics and royal treasures, which are well presented. The quality of the pieces is very impressive, and a testament to Thailand’s rich history. Tickets for foreigners are 200 baht, and it is worth noting you cannot take food, drinks or any bag larger than a handbag inside. It is also worth considering wearing shoes which are easy to take on and off, as 5/6 exhibitions require you to take your shoes off.
The only improvements I would suggest for this museum is perhaps providing more context for the pieces and their historical settings. I am a qualified archaeologist, but not being overly familiar with Thai history I found it hard to understand some pieces. Perhaps more visual aids such as maps or recreating historical scenes would be useful?

The national museum is surprisingly a great place for visit in Bangkok. Located on a historic estate, the buildings have their charms and breeze from the past. Really recommended for both locals and foreigners to learn and appreciate Thai history and culture. The museum has been renovated, professionally improved and organised, since the last time I visited 5 years ago (though, some buildings are still under renovation). Displayed objects are stunningly good and captured most of Thailand history and events from past to present. For museum lovers, could spend at least half a day.

Nice to discover and learn more about the history of Thailand. Consider at least 2 hours to see everything relatively quickly. If you like to take your time and really spend time of each piece, then better plan a full day trip.

Great museum to learn more about Thai history and the king’s of Thailand as well. You will a so understand why the people here are always healthy, why they’re using different Herb for food.and much more.
All rooms with air-conditioning, but not to cold. Price 200 baht for foreigners is really fair.
After museum go to Arno’s a restaurant at river, 5/8 mins to walk. Very good meat in burger, steak or pizza. Really good quality and fair price. After that cross the river with little ship for 5 baht (behind university) to other side and visit market close too river.

From outside it look like a teeny tiny place. But it actually a lot bigger than I thought.
There are like 5-6 buildings inside for you to roam around and if you’re a history buff you can spend half a day here easily. Probably the best museum in Thailand.
Downside is there is not much information given. Most of the room have air conditioning, so you can pretty walk in peace.
Price 200 Baht or around USD 6 not bad.
